But this is a new venture. This is a new blog. We’ve entered a new year, 2011, which sounds ever so strange. Tw0-thousand-eleven. I’ve been so used to nineteen-ninety-whatever, then twenty-oh-whatever, and now two-thousand. We’re in a whole different ballpark of numbers.
To welcome the year of 2011, I’ve made a few goals. I don’t usually make these and I really, truly, plan on carrying these out in 2011. No mucking about; I’m getting this done.
Amy’s Goals for 2011
- Lose 50 pounds. Originally, I wrote a goal of working out X times a week for X amount of minutes. Then I decided this really wasn’t the point. Sure, I want to work out for my health but I also want to lose weight. I’m overweight, I know it. Last March, I got a gym membership and I stopped going a couple of months later. Now I’m going back and I’m going to continue going and I will get results for my efforts!
- Learn something new. This is my roundabout way of saying I want to pick up college again. Various reasons kept (and keep) me from completing college in a straight four years but nothing prevents me from completing college entirely. I can get that Bachelor’s Degree. It’s not just a glimmer in my eye; it’s a piece of parchment waiting for me to grab it. (Although by the time I’m done, it may just be lines of code contained in a flash drive.)
- Blog at least once a week, with the end goal of daily posts. I remember setting a similar goal when I first started Pintucked. That didn’t go so well. I think the most I ever posted in one week was thrice. And now I’m adding two more blogs on top? Let me crack my neck. Stretch. Do some breathing exercises. I’ll take the challenge.
- Have an ongoing emergency fund of at least $1,000 by the end of the year. We have none right now. Granted, we moved just in November which sapped our savings but, in general, we have a couple hundred saved at a time. I’ve never been comfortable like this so it’s time to do something about it. I don’t need to do all this shopping anyway.
I’m writing about my goals because I’ll be keeping track of my progress on this blog under the category, “The 2011 Goals.” Would you like to join me? What are your goals for 2011? How do you plan on completing them? Share your plans – I may post them later for everyone to read!
